Gemma & Jayden

Last weekend I traveled to Tangalooma Island to video Gemma & Jayden’s beach wedding. My wife and I boarded Tangalooma Flyer and departed Brisbane mainland at 10am.

On the way over we met Josh from White Pearl Photography who was also on his way to shoot the wedding.

It wasn’t long before we arrived on the island and made our way to meet with Jayden at the Kookaburra Lodge for some preparation photos and video.

Then we relocated to Gemma’s apartment where she was having her make-up and hair done. After shooting some preparation footage with her I moved on to setup on location for the ceremony.

Gemma and Jayden’s wedding ceremony was relaxed and intimate, held in the gardens overlooking the white sandy beach. It was followed with a photo/video shoot along the beach at sunset.

This was my 3rd wedding shoot at Tangalooma and although it can be challenging with the bright sunlit sky and water as background, it also provides some stunning scenery at sunset.

It was also my 2nd wedding working with celebrant Marie Pentland, whom I highly recommend! Marie provides a very friendly and personal service and is always a pleasure to work with.

It was a great day for me as far as wedding shoots go. Nice surroundings, lovely families, exceptional work colleagues and we even got to see a few wild dolphins feeding by the jetty.

My equipment for the day consisted of my trusty old Sony Z1 MiniDV camcorder and my Canon 60D DSLR.

I also took my newly purchased Sturdycam camera stabilizer to try out but alas, I accidentally left the balancing rods at home!

Special thanks to Gemma & Jayden, Josh, Marie, Henk and of course my wife, Grace x.

Sarah & Daniel

Sarah & DanielSarah & Daniel were married at Tangalooma in early June. I traveled across from Brisbane in the morning and headed straight for the ceremony location. I was a little early which was great, that meant that I was able to take some time gather some establishing shots. It was an overcast day and mother nature kept us guessing as to whether it was going to rain. The ceremony was held outdoors in the lawn surrounded by gardens and with the ocean providing a lovely background. The overcast day worked in my favor as the ocean wasn’t as bright as it sometimes can be with the sun, which meant I didn’t have to blow out the exposure too much.

The guests started to arrive and it wasn’t too long before everything and everyone was in their place. Daniel arrived and just as things were about to get underway, a drop of rain hit my lens! Not having my cleaning cloth handy, I had to madly polish the lens with my shirt which just made it smudge worse. But with much persistence, I finally got the lens clean again just in time to catch the bagpipes beginning to play and welcome the arrival of Sarah the bride. It was a nice and relaxed ceremony followed with a short photo session with friends and family on the beach. Then it was time for me to pack up my gear and jump on the boat back to Brisbane.

I recently completed the DVD and posted express to the happy couple. Mother of the bride, Anna (whom had organised the wedding video booking with me months earlier) has provided me with some nice feedback, which you can read here. It’s always such a good feeling to hear that my customers are happy :)

Post production is now complete on Rachael & Rohan’s wedding DVD.  A lovely relaxed ceremony held at Tangalooma on the beach.  Many thanks to the happy couple for providing accommodation for myself and my wife during the weekend.  The DVD turned out great with lots of magic moments and true emotion caught on film.  This was a joy to post produce and I’m very happy with the final production!
